  • 5 medium apples, sliced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1 and 1/2 cups salted butter, melted
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup + 1 tbsp heavy cream
  • pinch of fine sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare a 9×13 pan with nonstick spray and parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, toss apple slices with lemon juice, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and spices. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, mix melted butter with remaining crust ingredients until combined.
  4. Press most of the mixture into the prepared pan as a base; layer spiced apples on top.
  5. Sprinkle reserved crust mixture over apples and bake for 38 to 45 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Prepare salted caramel sauce while bars bake.
  7. Once cooled, slice bars and drizzle with caramel before serving.
