Ingredients

  • 2 lbs sweet apples (Gala, Fuji, etc.)
  • 10 cups water
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 4 inches ginger
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 tsp black peppercorns

Instructions

  1. Chop the apples into quarters and core them (no peeling necessary).
  2. For Instant Pot: Combine all ingredients in the pot, seal the lid, and cook on high pressure for 18 minutes. Release steam manually.
  3. For Stove Top: In a stock pot, combine all ingredients. Bring to a boil, then simmer covered for about 30 minutes until apples are soft.
  4. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher, pressing gently on the apples to extract juices.
  5. Allow to cool before transferring to a sealed container.
  6. Serve warm or chilled.
